I did find a lot of complaints of this same thing and the FCM has been replaced with many other sensors and they still have the same issue. I the parent am driving the car now till I can this figured out. I guess you could do some minor mods and go stand alone but I doubt you will see enough of a mileage improvement to make it worth it.
