Last week Corgan ranked himself alongside the late Kurt Cobain as the greatest alt-rock songwriters of their generation, while criticising Pearl Jam and Foo Fighters. When I was in my first band Lavish we drove from the Gold Coast to Brisbane regularly to play gigs cos there were only about one or two places to play on the Gold Coast! As fate would have it I somehow ended up playing bass for Evan Dando 10 or so years later. The band's original line-up has, however, departed, with the exception of its enduring, talented and egotistical frontman, Billy Corgan. I chose this album as I think it is brilliant from top to tail. I was in Myer of all places. I always remember listening to this particular album obsessively and I especially dug the cover. It would only be my brother who was also in the band and his girlfriend at the time and it seemed we just listened to the White Album all the time on the way back after the gigs.   2. Like The Stone Roses first album this one just hit all the right notes and I think was just as important for its time. I did this a while ago as a template for the site.
